O. D. VanDusen's Sawmill 1890

The barrels situated on top of the mill contained water, and were for fire fighting purposes. In case of fire, bullets were shot at them, making holes, so the water could pour out. With the increase in railroad transportation facilities, the mills became more common. A saw mill was built in 1880 by O. D. VanDusen and was located just east of the railroad tracks where Dorchester Park is now located. E. H. Winchester served as bookkeeper and Charles Franklin Anderson was the head sawyer.
