Neff, Agnes (Mar 1858 - 14 JUN 1902)

Mrs. Dorr Neff, who sustained a fracture in the hip joint Friday June 6th, died as a result of the injury Saturday afternoon June 14, 1902, at her home in the town of Levis, Clark County. Death came very suddenly and was due to embolism of the heart, probably caused by a small particle from the interior of the injured bone being thrown into the circulation. Coming so suddenly as it did, when every indication pointed to quick recovery, her death has brought deep grief to her family and friends, which includes the people of the entire vicinity. Mrs. Neff, whose maiden name was Agnes Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Carter, was born in Jefferson Co., Wis., in March, 1858. She came with her parents to Clark County in 1874, and was married to Dorr A. Neff in 1878. Besides her husband, four children survive her, three daughters, who are nearly grown to womanhood and a little boy of eight or nine. She leaves also four brothers to mourn her untimely death. She was a woman of rare good qualities, a lady in every sense. She was one of the early teachers of the county, and was a model wife and mother.

The sympathy of the whole community goes out to the bereaved family. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the residence, Rev. A.V. Ingham officiating, burial taking place in Neillsville Cemetery.
