Murphy, Roy (22 Apr 1887 - 12 Jan 1903)
Roy Murphy, son of Mr. and Mrs. V.M. Murphy, died at the Merchant's Hotel (Neillsville, Clark County) Monday, Jan. 12, 1903. The immediate cause of his death was acute bronchitis, though for many years Roy had been an invalid. He was born at Arapaho, Neb., Apr. 22, 1887, and until he was five years was a healthy, sprightly child. He was taken with pseudo hypertrophic paralysis, a disease which gradually rendered him helpless. For five years he was able to move about, but was finally unable to walk and had to be moved in a wheel chair. His parents exhausted every means known to medical science for his relief, but without avail. He was a patient sufferer and a favorite with guests and the young people who made his acquaintance, and his parents have the sympathy of all in their affliction. The funeral ceremony was held at the house Wednesday forenoon, Rev. Guy Campbell officiating. The remains were taken to the cemetery at Patch Grove, Wis. for burial in the family lot.
