Kern Family Farm

Mr. (Henry) and Mrs. (Johanna) Kern and their three sons and one daughter left Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the spring of 1879, and moved onto 40 acres, 1-1/2 miles northwest of Greenwood, Wisconsin, in the town of Warner. Where they resided the rest of their life. When Mr. Kern passed away in March, 1912, at the age of 85, his youngest son George took over the farm, and bought 80 acres more to it.

Mr. Kern married the former Lena Sundermeyer in January, 1896, and they reared five sons and four daughters, Mr. Kern passed away in August, 1962, at the age of 90. The following year their son Clarence purchased the family farm. During the years, more land was added making it 240 acres now. Mrs. Kern continued to live on the farm until her death in October, 1966, having reached the age of 92. This year, 1969, the farm has been In the Kern family for 90 years.  Written by Rose Kern
