Deutsch, Edward (29 Sep 1881 - 19 Jul 1904)

Edward Deutsch, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Deutsch of this city (Neillsville, Clark County) was almost instantly killed about six o'clock Tuesday afternoon, July 19, by the kick of a horse. He was in the employ of the Luethe Company and had just returned with the horse from the blacksmith shop, where he had it shod. When putting it in the barn the horse got away from him. In attempting to catch the animal he approached its head, when it wheeled and kicked him, striking him over the heart, breaking one or more ribs and killing him almost instantly. James Cannon who saw the accident, hastened to the spot, and sent for medical aid at once, but nothing could be done. The young man's death is a sad blow to his parents, sister, and brothers, and a shock to the entire community, whose sympathies go out to the bereaved family.

Edward was born in Neillsville, Sept. 29, 1881. He grew to manhood here, graduating from the city high school in the class of 1900. He was a young man of good character, and stood well in the community. The cutting off of a life in its full vigor is always a sad thing, and one hard to reconcile with a beneficent order of events, but the silent as well as the outspoken sympathy of the people here are with the grief stricken family to comfort them as best it may.

The funeral will not be held until the arrival of the brother Ferdinand from Minot, N.D.
