Sloat, Melvin (1878? - 29 Sep 1904)
Melvin Sloat who lived with his brother Chas. Sloat on the Gergen farm, which they had purchased in the town of Grant, Clark County, died very suddenly, Thursday, Sept. 29, 1904, from apoplexy. Deceased was 26 years of age, and a single man. He has no relatives here except his brother and family. His father was summoned by telegraph from Sherlin, Ill., to which place he returned Sunday with the remains for burial. Deceased was a member of the Modern Woodmen, and had the esteem of all who had made his acquaintance.
