French, James (? - Jan 1905)
R.B. French Sen. Of Levis, Clark County recently received a letter announcing the death of his brother James French at Mayten, Cal. Deceased was one of the earliest settlers in this region, coming to Clark County about 1848. About 31 years ago he left here for the west, so that he will be remembered only by the older settlers of this vicinity. Besides his brother, R.B. French he leaves a brother, G.W. French living in Centralia, Wash. He was an uncle of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Sturdevant, Miss Delphine Johnson and the sons and daughters of the late Dr. B.F. French. He leaves two children, a son and a daughter, Fred French and Restora French, who reside in the west.
