Wage, John (28 Jan 1885 - 31 Jan 1905)
John Wage died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fernando C. Wage in this city (Neillsville, Clark Co.), about 6 o'clock Tuesday morning, Jan. 31, 1905. He had suffered a gradual decline from consumption for several months, growing weaker and weaker till the spark of life went out. John was born in the town of Washburn in this county and was twenty years and three days old. Four years ago he moved to Neillsville with his parents. Here he learned the printer's trade, at which he worked more or less for two years, pursuing his studies meanwhile. He then entered regularly upon the High School course. His naturally bright and active mind and energy as a student enabled him to keep pace easily with students who had spent much longer time in school, and had his health not given out he would have been among the graduates in June. He was keen, active, independent and generous, qualities of mind that made him a general favorite. His readiness to help and to do with his might what needed to be done often made him over tax his strength. His hope and courage never forsook him.
He was a dutiful son, the one idol of his parents, who watched anxiously over his frail and fading strength. The funeral will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. at the M.E. Church, Rev. Guy Campbell officiating.
The High School will be dismissed to attend the funeral.
