Schultz, Carl (? - 19 Feb 1904)
News was brought in Saturday morning that Carl Schultz had been killed near Globe, Clark County. A precept was issued by Justice Dudley and Sheriff Brooks summoned a jury to investigate the death. It was learned that the deceased on Friday had unhitched his team from his load of wood at the top of a steep pitch where the sleigh would be easy to start in the morning. It is supposed that he had stepped on the front roll to pull his blankets off the load and in that way stated the sleigh which ran over him, pinning him down. Whether he died from injuries or perished from freezing could not be told with certainty. Three men who were cutting wood with, whom Schultz stayed in a shanty near by went out and called for him, going nearly to where the sleigh had stood, but returned, supposing that he had gone to his home as he occasionally did. The team wandered off into the woods and was not found till morning. Deceased leaves a wife and several small children.
