Borgers, Dorcas (Marriage - 24 AUG 1904)
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1904, Mr. chester Allen Pickering of Sherwood and Miss Dorcas Borgers of Neillsville, Clark County, were united in marriage, the ceremony taking place on the top of the mound two miles north of the city in the town of Pine Valley, Rev. G.W. Longenecker officiating. The sandstone bluff with its wooded sides is a most picturesque feature of our landscape. From its summit there is a beautiful view of the country for miles around, and it is certainly a unique and romantic place for a wedding. Only the immediate relatives of the bride and groom and Mr. and Mrs. Longenecker were present. The wedding supper was served beneath the trees at the foot of the mound.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Pickering of Nevins, a young man of sterling character and respected by all. The bride was born and brought up in Neillsville. She is one of our most successful teachers, possessing a vigorous and original mind, and always on active force for good in the districts where she taught. They will be at home after Nov. 1, at Nevins. The congratulations and best hopes of their friends are with them.
