Elwin M. "Al" Hamann, 76, Marshfield, died on Thursday, June 27, 2002, at The House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 1, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Chapel, Marshfield. The Rev. Charles D. Stoetzel, St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, officiated. Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866. Pallbearers were Doug Burr, David Burr, Herb Hager, Kenny Lindekugel, Wayne Lindekugel and Kelly Aderhold.

Elwin Millard Hamann was born on April 4, 1926, in the town of Riplinger, Clark County, to Otto and Elma (nee Hutchins) Hamann. He received his education at Loyal schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Barbara B. Burr on June 10, 1961, at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield. He worked for Weyerhaeuser, Marshfield, and Wilbert Vault Works, Marshfield, until retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, The Holy Name Society, The Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council 1799 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1866. His interests included fishing, bowling, playing cards and working in his garage.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, Marshfield two children, Kevin (Sheila) Hamann, Oconto, and Kathy (Rob) Osterberg, Forest Lake, Minn. two grandchildren, Steven and Amanda his mother-in-law, Marion Burr, Marshfield and one sister, Ethel Lindekugel, Neillsville.

His parents preceded him in death.

Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, assisted the family with arrangements.
