Ella Baumgartner, 96, Colby, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Colonial Center, Colby. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at First United Church of Christ, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery, town of Colby. Pallbearers were grandsons, Alan Baumgartner, Gary Nelsen, David Baumgartner, Dennis Baumgartner, Brian Baumgartner and Gary Baumgartner.

Ella Neuhaus was born on Jan. 19, 1906, to Gerhardt and Lucy Neuhaus. She married Walter Baumgartner on Oct. 8, 1924, in Stratford. They farmed in the town of Colby until retiring in 1968. They later moved to the city of Colby. She was a member of First United Church of Christ and its Women's Guild.

Survivors include four children, Vernon (Dorothy) Baumgartner, Colby, Lucille (Ronald) Nelsen, DeKalb, Ill., Harold Baumgartner, Cook, Minn., and Jim (Pat) Baumgartner, Colby one daughter-in-law, Irene Baumgartner, Cook, Minn. 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents her husband, Walter, in 1993 one son, Donald Baumgartner one daughter-in-law, Myrtle Baumgartner two great-grandchildren eight brothers and seven sisters.

Community Funeral Home, Colby, assisted the family with arrangements.
