Tuesday forenoon, July 9, 1907, the marriage of Mr. Edwin F. French and Miss Mabel Beatrice Tifft took place at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Julia E. Tifft, on Court St. (Neillsville, Clark County), Rev. Albert R. Rice, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating. The wedding was of the quiet order, only near relatives and friends being present. Just at the hour of nine the bride and groom were ushered into the parlor to the strains of Mendelsohn's Wedding March, executed by Mrs. Frank W. Archer, of Merrillan. Little Blondine Archer acted as ring bearer, doing her part very prettily. The beautiful and impressive ring ceremony was used, and after the solemn service ended the relatives and friends hastened to offer good wishes and congratulations. The rooms were beautifully decorated with roses, carnations and ferns, the roses appearing in profusion. A three-course wedding breakfast was most tastily served, and as the hour for departure of the bride and groom drew nigh, the words of congratulation rapidly turned to words of farewell. The wedding presents, which were very fine, but necessarily condensed in size, were rapidly packed for the long journey, and all made ready for the 11:33 train west. At the station the guests assembled with a large crowd of other friends who met to speed them on their way with rice and old shoes and much merry making. The bridal couple expects to remain a few days in St. Paul, and then proceed to Yellowstone National Park, where, with Dr. John R. French, the groom's brother, they will leisurely view the wonders of the Park. On their way they will visit the larger coast cities, reaching Los Angeles, Cal., in about a month, where they will be at home after Sept. 1 at 520 S. St. Louis St.

Of the bride, the Republican & Press can only speak as one speaks of his own family, She was born in Madison, but Neillsville, Clark County has been her home from early childhood. She possesses rare personal beauty and we believe will develop all of the domestic and womanly qualities of which that beauty is the type. The groom grew to manhood here, graduated from Neillsville High School in the class of ?92, studied civil engineering in the State University for some time, and on going to California followed it to some extent, later taking up contracting and building, at which he has been successful. He is a man of intelligence and moral worth. To their home beyond the western plains and mountains go wishes for their future welfare from kindred and friends here.
