Hansen, John (1824? - 26 Feb 1907)
John Hansen, better known as "Joe" Hansen, died at his little home on the North Side (Neillsville, Clark County), Feb. 26, 1907, aged about 82 years. He was born in Norway and after coming her followed blacksmithing for some time, but for many years past had lived alone working his garden and tending his chickens. He was a good man of simple habits and strictly honest in every way. On Sunday he took dinner with some of his friends and next day when some of them called on him they found him quite weak. This weakness slowly increased till he died like one falling asleep. He was one of a large family in Norway, but as far as known, his only relatives here are his brother's children, Mrs. John Charles, Olive Hansen and Haken Hansen of Neillsville, and Carl Hansen of Chicago. They had always taken an interest in their uncle and looked after his comfort as much as possible.
The funeral will probably be held Friday at the Norwegian Lutheran Church , of which he was a member, Rev. Swanne of Greenwood officiating.
