Loveless, Simeon S. (1834? - 2 MAR 1907)
Simeon S. Loveless, died at his home in this city Saturday, March 2, 1907, at the age of 72. He had been in feeble health for a long time, growing gradually weaker until the end came.
He was born in the state of New York; on coming to this state he settled near Columbus. There he was married to Mariette Edwards in 1855. One child, a boy, was born to them but he died when about eight years of age. After coming to Clark County in 1876, they adopted Mary Stange when a little girl seven years of age.
Mr. Loveless was a Civil War veteran, enlisting in the First Wisconsin Heavy Artillery.
After coming to Clark County, they made their home in the town of Washburn until a few years ago when they moved into the city.
He was a man of quiet peaceable disposition, liked by all his neighbors and respected by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife, and their adopted daughter, Mrs. Ernest Roessler, also three sisters and a brother.
A short funeral service was held at the hosue Sunday forenoon, Rev. A.R. Rice officiating. Carl Stange accompanied the remains to Columbus where the formal funeral was held on Monday, burial taking place there in the family lot, where their little boy was buried many years ago.
