Dettman, Johanna (6 Augl 1835 - 30 May 1907)
Deep sorrow entered for the first time in many years the family life of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marth. That which all recognized came at the noon hour on the day of May 30, 1907, and claimed one who had for twenty-five years made her happy home with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Marth.
Mrs. Johanna Dettman was born at Pommern, Germany, and yielded to life's last experience May 30 at Neillsville, Clark County. She was suddenly taken ill nearly seven weeks ago, at the end of which time the Death Angel came and guided her into that blessed land to which we all must journey. Through her illness, though not long, and amidst all her trials and physical sorrow and her approaching death, she wore her characteristic sunny disposition, and greeted all who called upon her with a cheerful smile, and was always loved by all. The last rites were paid her Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the German Lutheran Church, Rev. H. Brandt officiating. A large number of beautiful floral tributes were sent by the many friends. She had a noble, generous disposition, and to know her was to love her. Mrs. Johanna Dettman was born Johanna Fushes, Aug. 6, 1835. At her death she was 71 years, 9 months and 24 days old. She came to this country twenty-five years ago. She leaves to mourn her departure two daughters, Mrs. Henry Marth, Neillsville; Minna Bublitz, Berlin, Germany; one son, August, of Caledonia, Minn., and several grandchildren, also other relatives. The bereaved have the deep sympathy of the entire community.
