Eilert, Louis J. (5 Apr 1881 - 29 Oct 1907)
Louis J. Eilert, who died at Owen, Clark County, Oct. 29, 1907, was born in Neillsville, April 5, 1881, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Eilert. He was educated in our city schools and went west with the family to Fresno, Cal., where he was married. About a year ago he returned to Neillsville, and last Jun went into business at Owen with E.D. Barton in the blacksmith and pump business. Of him the Owen Advertiser says:
"in the death of Mr. Eilert Owen loses one of its foremost business men. He was always ready to give a helping hand, was conscientious and honest in his conduct toward his fellow men. He was a man of high integrity, and enjoyed the respect and esteem of his business associates."
Besides his wife he leaves his mother, one brother Will Eilert, of Fresno, four sisters, Mrs. Fred Huntzicker of Fresno, Cal., Mrs. Kurt Listeman of Neillsville, Mrs. R.L. Meader of Eau Claire, and Miss Leda Eilert, who was on her way to California at the time of his death. All of the relatives except Miss Leda, who could not be reached by telegraph, were here for the funeral, which took place at the home of Mayor Listeman’s Sunday, Rev. T.G. Owen officiating.
