Simon, Charles A. (7 Dec 1825 - 25 Nov 1907)
Charles August Simon was born in Germany Dec. 7th, 1825. In 1842 he came to America with his parents and located in Milwaukee, where he remained until 1850, when he moved to Chicago and became a chef in the Palmer House. The Chicago fire of 1871 destroyed his residence and he then moved to Neillsville, Clark County, where the went into the butcher business.
His wife, Caroline, died in 1886. Mr. Simon left surviving him his sister, Anna Garbusch, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Scholz of Chicago and Mrs. Sarah Schoengarth of Neillsville, and one son, Mr. George Simon of Chicago. He also left eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He died in Chicago Nov. 25th at 8:30 a.m. of old age. The funeral was held at the Congregational Church Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m., Rev. A.R. Rice officiating.
