This bio shows Ingebritson with Englebretson in parentheses. I'm wondering why both names are shown. It's possible that the Ingebritson was my Great Grandmother's family and that Englebretson was her husband's family name. I do not, however, know who A.M. was. My grandmother always told me that her parents Edward Englebretson and Ingeborg (Ingebritson) had the "same" last name. Can you clarify? Thanks.

Laurel,

These early papers often miss-spelled surnames. Sometimes, the people themselves changed the spelling as time went on and I put what I suspect is the current day spelling for Ingebritson based on Pronunciation because the Englebretson name was represented in the area in other records. By listing both spellings, our search engine will bring the article up for either spelling. But Ingebritson was the spelling used in the original article.
