Schofield, Almeria A. (2 Jun 1846 - 11 Dec 1908)
Mrs. Robert Schofield, whose maiden name was Almeria A. Burt, died at Prescott, Ariz., Dec. 11, 1908, of paralysis. Mrs. Schofield was one of the best known residents of Clark County. She was born at Potsdam, St. Lawrence Co., N.Y., Jun 2, 1846. She came to Neillsville with her parents in 1869, and was married to Robert Schofield in 1870. For several years they lived just north of this city at what was known as Schofield’s Corners, opposite Weston Rapids. Afterwards they moved to Greenwood, where they continued to reside for many years. Since 1905 deceased has made her home at Prescott, Ariz.
Besides her husband she leaves three children, Mrs. Gracia Morrison of Prescott, Ariz., Dr. Hugh Schofield of Greenwood and Mrs. Victor Pierrelee of Ashland. Her children were all with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Schofield was a lady of rare musical talent and much public spirit. In addition to the care of her own children and other children whom at different times she took into her home, she devoted much time to teaching music and developing a taste for it among young people of her neighborhood. She had also rare social talents, and her annual receptions given to the members of the teacher’s institutes will long be remembered by those who attended. Among the former teachers of this county she numbered many friends who will mourn her death. The funeral was held at Greenwood Wednesday.
