Hall, Frederick (5 Jan 1872 - 6 Nov 1937)

Rev. Frederick Hall, who for a long period of time has made Jamestown, N.D. his home, passed away at the family home at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, Nov. 6, 1937, his death resulting from a stroke of apoplexy some months ago.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1937 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Church.

Rev. Otto Felberg, pastor of the church, was in charge of the services and was assisted by Rev. George Monroe Thomas, pastor of the Congregational Church.

The Congregational choir sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Now We Bear the Body to Rest" "Arise Calleth a Voice of God", which was Rev. Hall’s favorite hymn, was sung by Walter Elmer, Miss Bertha Ebel was the accompanist. Rev. Felberg spoke in German and the music was in German. Rev. Thomas spoke in English.

Burial was made in Highland Home Cemetery. Fred Hall of Wing attended the services but Otto Hall of Washington, D.C., was unable to come.

Frederick Carl Otto Emil Gustav Wilhelm Hall was born Jan. 5, 1872 to Burgemaster Dr. Juris Carl H. L. Hall and his wife Bertha Hall in Sulza, Mecklenburg, Germany. He attended common school in rostock for 3 years, after which he was sent to a boy’s academy until he was 15 years of age, when he went to the estate of his uncle in East Prussia, where he studied farm management. At the age of 18 years he enlisted in the German Army and he served in the First Cavalry guard regiment in Berlin. He was honorably discharged as a reserve officer. He then took up farm managing and at the age of 37 years came to America.

Mr. Hall and Miss Mathilda Simon were married in Chicago, Feb. 18, 1909. Here he was associaed with a German importer. The deceased studied for the ministry at the Mission House in Sheboygan, Wis. He was ordained and served in Hoisington, Kansas, Greenwood, Clark County, Wis. and Jamestown.

Survivors are his widow, and three sons, Kurt, Jamestown college student, Fred, Wing and Otto, Washington, D.C.: a brother Carl and a sister Bertha in Germany. (The Jamestown Sun, Jamestown, N.D.)

Rev. Hall was pastor of the West Side Reformed Church from 1916 to 1921.
