Rabenstein, Gretchen L. (Marriage - 31 Dec 1907)
The home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Rabenstein on North Grand Av. (Neillsville, Clark County) was the scene of a pretty holiday wedding, Tuesday night, Dec. 31, 1907, when their daughter Gretchen Louise was united in marriage with Mr. La Verne C. Gillard of Ft. Atkinson, in the presence of about sixty guests. The ceremony was performed by Hon. James O’Neill, a personal friend of Mr. Rabenstein and family, the Episcopal rites being used. The rooms were beautifully decorated with smilax and roses and the wedding march was played by Miss Imig at the piano, accompanied by Miss Whitcomb on the violin. Mr. Howard Maule of Dousman, Wis., a schoolmate of the groom, acted as best man and Miss Elona Wolff of Neillsville as bridesmaid, the bride being given away by her father. The young couple was the recipients of showers of congratulations, not only verbal, but by letters and telegrams, including a cable message from Europe.
At ten o’clock a bountiful wedding supper was served, the bride and groom taking the midnight train for an extended wedding trip, after which they will be at home Jan. 15, at Ft. Atkinson, Wis. In the marriage of these young people we can foresee with hopeful assurance, a successful and happy home. The bride was born and brought up in this city, received her early education in our schools, later being a student for three years in Milwaukee Downer College, then becoming a successful teacher, in all of which she has developed a cultured and beautiful womanhood. The groom is assistant manager of the Kent Mfg. Co., Ft. Atkinson, and while somewhat a stranger here, we know him through mutual acquaintances to be a young man of most sterling moral qualities and excellent business capacity. With them go the community’s highest hopes and best wishes. ( A list of gifts received was in the article but not listed here)

Gretchen and La Verne were my grandparents. Am interested in any other information about the family.
