King, Elizabeth (Marriage - 15 Jun 1908)
Miss Elizabeth King of this city (Neillsville, Clark County) and Mr. Heinrich Herman Mauer were married Jun 15, 1908, at Madison, Wis. The marriage has in it a quite a tinge of romance, Miss King having met her future husband four years ago while pursuing her studies in Europe. The groom’s home is near Munich, Germany. While she was in Rome he gave her lessons in German, she reciprocated by giving him lessons in English. On Miss King’s return to America, he accompanied her, entering the University of Wisconsin, completing his course in three years, making so good a record that he was grated a fellowship in the University.
The bride is also a graduate from the same institution, where she has done considerable post graduate work, besides her year’s work in Europe. After some time spent in teaching, she took up lecturing, during the past year, speaking in every part of the state, and receiving most flattering notices from patrons and press. She is the daughter of Mr. R.W. King of this city, was born and brought up here, graduated from Neillsville High school, making a splendid record as a student and teacher, before entering the State University.
The bride and groom sail today (Thursday) from New York for Germany, where they will spend the summer, returning to Madison in the fall, where they will make their home. To them is extended the best wishes of this community.
