Neff, L. (Marriage - 17 Jun 1908)

Mr. Hugh M. Campbell and Miss L?? Neff were married Wednesday afternoon June 17, 1908, Rev. W.T. Hendren officiating. The ceremony took place at the home of the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Campbell in this city (Neillsville, Clark County), owing to Mr. Campbell’s health, he not being strong enough to go out to the home of Mr. Dorr A. Neff, the bride’s father, who lives in Levis. The wedding was of the most quiet order, only relatives and near friends being present. After the ceremony and supper, the young couple bade farewell to their friends and started on their long westward journey. The groom has filed on a timber claim thirteen miles from Dallas, Oregon, and that claim is their destination. They will go by way of Denver and Salt Lake City, taking time en route to see as much of the country as possible. The groom is one of Neillsville’s own boys, born and brought up here, passing through our schools, graduating with honor and working his way through a portion of his course in electric engineering in the State University. During vacation and at other times he has made use of his skill to help himself along. Believing that western timber was worth going after, he went out and took a claim and his plucky bride goes with him to help hold it. She is a young lady of refinement and education, also graduating from Neillsville High school, after completing the country school course, becoming later a successful teacher. These young people have the genuine pioneer courage; going into the mountains, far from friends, to make the wilderness yield them its wealth. They deserve success and happiness and May they win it.
