Johnston, Ila L. (4 Oct 1915 - 16 Jul 2002)

Ila Johnston, 86, formerly of Loyal, died on Tuesday, Jul 16, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jul 20, at the Loyal United Methodist Church. The Rev. Wendell Williams officiated. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Damon Johnston, Darin Johnston, Jeremiah Johnston, Andrew Johnston, Dustin Johnston and Joshua Korntved.

Ila Lucille Counsell was born on Oct. 4, 1915, in Neillsville, to Herbert and Maude (nee Raine) Counsell. She was educated in Neillsville area schools. She earned a teaching degree and later taught in Hammond, Granton and Loyal. She married Neil Johnston on Aug. 17, 1941, in Neillsville. She lived in Loyal from 1941 until she entered Memorial Medical Center Nursing Home in 1998. She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Her interests included cooking and cleaning her house.

Survivors include three sons, Brian (friend Vickie) Johnston, Loyal, Craig (Rachel) Johnston, Marshfield, and LaMont (friend Marge) Johnston, Spring Green; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Neil; her parents; and one sister.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
