Ferne Lewis, 92, Neillsville, died on Wednesday, Jul 24, 2002, at her home. A private family graveside service was held on Monday, Jul 29, at the Columbia Cemetery.
Ferne Gladys Lewis was born on May 8, 1910, in Monroe, to Walter and Carrie (nee Tracy) Ostrander. She married Granville Lewis on Aug. 30, 1930, in Waukesha. They farmed in the Monroe area until moving to Neillsville. She worked at the Silver Dome Supper Club and the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville for many years. Her interests included quilting, antiquing, crocheting, needlework and traveling when she was younger.
Survivors include three daughters, Carla (Alfred) Ufken, Monroe, Pat Haugo, Montana, and Mary (John) Pettit, Neillsville; two sons, Roger (Ruth) Lewis, Montana, and Jerry (Patti) Lewis, Montana; one daughter-in-law, Mayona Lewis, Neillsville; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Granville, in 1975; one son, Ted Lewis; one grandson, Shane Lewis; one brother, Vernon Ostrander; and two sisters, Nellie Kryder and Edna Ostrander.
The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
