Martha F. Jake, 83, Neillsville, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m., until 11 a.m. memorial services, on Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Woodrow Pace will officiate. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist, Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist, and St. Mary’s Adult Choir. A private family burial will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Martha Frances Raab was born on March 9, 1919, in Oshkosh, to Anton and Mary (nee Fehr) Raab. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh High School. She lived in Oshkosh until 1937, when she moved to Neillsville. She married Orville R. Jake on Aug. 24, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. She worked for three years at St. Mary’s as a cook and then for 16 years as a grocery clerk at the Farmer’s Store, Neillsville. She retired in 1976. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s PCCW and the Catholic Knights.
Survivors include three daughters, Lucy E. Johnson, Parker, Colo., Mary Lee (Jerry) Burke, Oshkosh, and Christine T. "Teeny" (Tony) Torgrimsen, Madison; three grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Johnson, Memphis, Tenn., Lisa Johnson, Parker, Colo., and Kristopher Burke, Oshkosh; two sisters, Lucy Steinhilber, Neillsville, and Elsie Potter, Tulsa, Okla.; five nieces and five nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Orville, in 1998; her parents; two sisters and two brothers.
Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
