Thwing, Nora M. (14 Jun 1901 - 9 Augl 2002)

Nora Thwing, 101, Clintonville, died on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Pine Manor Nursing Home, Clintonville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. The Rev. Pettus officiated. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Nora Minnie Lang was born on Jun 14, 1901, in rural Buckbee, near Clintonville, to John and Minnie Lang. She attended grade school in Buckbee and attended Marion High School. She married Otto Knack on her 21st birthday. They moved to Ferndale, Mich., where their first three children were born. They returned to Wisconsin in 1927 and had three more children. Her husband died in January 1934, leaving her with six children, the youngest of which was five days old. She married Henry Thwing in Jul 1945. They moved to a dairy farm near Loyal. They lived there until a fire destroyed their barn. They relocated nearby until retiring. They then lived in Greenwood and Abbotsford before moving to Clintonville in 1974. Her second husband died in 1984, and she lived at home until she was 95. She then moved to an apartment in Clintonville and then to the Pine Manor Nursing Home.

Survivors include one daughter, Eleanor (Perry) Stichman, Billings, Mont.; three sons, Otto (Frances) Knack, Weyauwega, Robert (Lila) Knack, Bryanstown, Md., and Milton (Joan) Knack, Loyal; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands; two daughters, Betty Burkhart and Joan Knack; two brothers, Harold Lang and David Lang; five sisters, Julia Denkee, Beatrice Zellmer, Mary Schroeder, Myrtle Daly and Fern Peterson; and two granddaughters, Diana Knack and Karen Knack.

Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Clintonville, assisted the family with arrangements.
