Crandall, Dorothy R. (16 Jan 1914 - 13 Augl 2002)
Dorothy R. Crandall, 88, Neillsville, formerly of Granton, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at the Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. A celebration of her life was held at noon, on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Granton Sportsman’s Club.
Dorothy Roxy Gardner was born on Jan. 16, 1914, in Granton, to Franklin and Minnie (nee Razloff) Gardner. She graduated from Granton High School and then attended teacher’s training in Neillsville. She worked as a teacher in the Granton Public School system for several years. She served as assistant postmaster at the Granton Post Office, and also was the librarian at the Granton Public Library. She married Douglas Crandall on Nov. 13, 1948, at her sister’s home in the Granton area. She was active in the Granton United Methodist Church and its ladies aid. Her interests included painting, fishing, crocheting and bird watching.
Survivors include one son, Jeff Crandall, Granton; three grandchildren, James Kurtz, Dorie Coleman and Heather (Jon) Sternitzky, all of Granton; two great-grandchildren, Monique and Cheyenne; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Douglas; her parents; five sisters and five brothers.
Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
