Woodward, Mayme (Marriage - 14 Sep 1909)
Among the list of marriage licenses in Tuesday’s Record Herald of Chicago, many Neillsville, Clark County people were pleasantly surprised to read that of Mr. Edward J. Hoey and Miss Mayme Woodward, which was followed shortly after by an announcement from the bride’s mother that the wedding had taken place that morning, Sept. 14, 1909. The ceremony was performed by father Griffin of St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, the witnesses being the bride’s uncle and aunt, who reside in Chicago. The young couple arrives here Wednesday morning and received the congratulations and expressions of good will from their many friends.
The groom’s home is in Baltimore, but for some time he has held a responsible position in the furniture factory here, has taken an active part in the social affairs of the city, and has come to be considered almost a Neillsville man.
The bride is known to everyone here, being the daughter of Mrs. W.F. Woodward. She was born in Neillsville, graduated from our school and for some time past has been City Librarian, in which position her faithfulness and tact in her duties made her services most valuable. For the present they will reside in Neillsville and it is hoped b their friends that their permanent residence May be here.
