Dennis, D. J. (8 Sep 1825 - 19 Dec 1910)
Mr. D. J. Dennis was born in the state of New York Sept. 8, 1825, and came to the state of Illinois when he was 18 years of age.
He was married to Mary Holderness Feb. 12, 1850. To this union were born nine children, four of who died in infancy. The other five, who still live to mourn the loss of their father are: Mrs. Phoebe French of Tracy, Minn.; Elmer Dennis of Granton, Wis.; and Mrs. Lottie Sirwirght, Mrs. Elizabeth Foster and Mrs. Alice Wright of Sycamore, Ill. Mrs. Dennis died about 19 years ago, and since her death Mr. Dennis has made his home most of the time with his son Elmer, at whose home he died Dec 19, 1910.
Mr. Dennis and his wife were both members of the M.E. Church. A short funeral service conducted by Rev. G. L. Pound was held at the home, after which the body was taken to the old home at Sycamore, Ill, where another service was held, the remains then being laid to rest by the side of his wife.
