Johnson Ole (31 Mar 1844 - 3 May 1911)
Ole Johnson died at his home in this city, May 3, 1911. He was born in Norway, March 31, 1844; came to this country in 1865, stopping at La Crosse. In 1870 he came to Neillsville, Clark County, and for some time worked in the O’Neill House; later, from 1876 to about 1900 he carried on a boarding house. For some time past his health has not bee good; his death was due to heart trouble.
Mr. Johnson was twice married, both wives having preceded him in death. He was the father of nine children, seven of who are living: Hans of Eau Claire, Albert of Fresno, Calif., John of Olean, N.Y., Ole, Tillie, Letta and Anna of Neillsville. He was a man of upright character, quiet and unobtrusive in manner and a good citizen in every way. The funeral was held Sunday at the Congregational Church, under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen, of which he had been a member twenty-one years. Rev. Risser preached the funeral sermon.
The family wishes to thank all their friends who gave them help and sympathy, especially remembering the Modern Woodmen, Royal Neighbors and the pupils of the eighth grade.
