Case, Harriet (20 Mar 1834 - 27 Jan 1912)

Mrs. Harriet Case died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Huckstead Jan. 27, 1911, aged nearly 78 years. Deceased, whose maiden name was Harriet Benedict, was born in New York State, Mar. 20, 1834, was married to John Pope at Barrington, Ill. in 1859; they came to Clark County and settled on Pleasant Ridge in 1897. About eleven years ago she married Robert Howard, who died about a year after their marriage. In THE Fall of 1909 she was married to Wellington Case at the Veteran’s Home. Besides the one daughters, she leaves one sister, Mrs. Jos. Brown, and three brothers, Wallace of Barrington, Ill.; John of Verden, Neb.; Ira of Peoria, Kan.; Judson of Bellwood, Neb., also one granddaughter, Florence Huckstead.

She was one of the active pioneer women of whom few are left, who helped to create homes in the wilderness here, and bring in better days.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church Tuesday, Rev. Hendren preaching the funeral sermon.
