Dickey, Mary A. (16 Mar 1833 - 15 Augl 1912)

Mrs. Mary A. Dickey died at her home in Portland, Ore. Aug. 15, 1912, aged 79 years, 4 months and 30 days.

Mrs. Dickey was born in Wales March 16, 1833. She and her husband were among the earliest settlers in Neillsville, Clark County, where Mr. Dickey carried on a wagon shop. He died more than twenty years ago, and she continued to live here for some time, then going west to stay with her children who had gone to Portland. She leaves four children, Edgar, Chauncey, Blanche, and Marion. All were with her at the time of her death. Blanche returns to teach in the schools of Neillsville and the others remain in the west. Mrs. Dickey was a woman of quiet and retiring manner, but was naturally refined and loved the better things of life. The old friends here who knew and loved her, sincerely mourn her death and sympathize with the family. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Eliot, pastor of the Unitarian Church in Portland, on Sunday Aug. 18.
