Goeden, Matilda (Marriage - 10 Oct 1911)
A very pretty wedding took place at the Catholic Church Tuesday forenoon, Oct. 10, 1911, when Mr. Edwin Bast and Miss Matilda Goeden were united in marriage, Rev. Fr. Dorrenbach officiating. Mr. John Bast and Mrs. Willie Goeden attended the bridegroom, and Miss Estella Bast, sister of the groom, and Miss Johanna Goeden, the bride’s cousin, were bridesmaids. The flower girls, caring pink carnations were Rosie Marx and Lillian Gangler.
The Bride was prettily dressed in white muslin with lace over, and carried bridal roses and lilies of the valley. The bridesmaids were dressed in white. After the ceremony a bounteous dinner was served at the bride's home, only relatives of the families being present, and in the evening a reception and dance were given at Wasserberger’s ball, at which fully three-hundred guests attended.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Bast, and came here when his father establish himself in the bakery business in Neillsville, Clark County. He is a young man of good character and habits, industrious and upright, and has the respect of everybody who knows him. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goeden and was brought up in this city. In every way she is possessed of those qualities that fit her duties in life. The young couple starts with abundance of friendship and good will from everybody, and all hope to see them win real success and happiness. For the present they will remain here, the groom assisting his father in his business.
