Bruley, Maude E. (Marriage - 23 Nov 1911)

Miss Maude E. Bruley of this city (Neillsville, Clark Co.) and Mr. Phillip Griffin of Marshfield, were married in Milwaukee last Thursday, Nov. 23, 1911. The marriage was a genuine surprise to people here. Miss Bruley went over to Marshfield Wednesday and that evening the young couple wen to Milwaukee, accompanied by the groom’s sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gordon. The marriage took place in St. John’s Cathedral, Rev. Father Murphy officiating.

After the marriage they visited with the bride’s aunt, Mrs. J.E. Phillips and later returned to Marshfield, where they will take up housekeeping.

The groom is a comparative stranger here, but comes from a good family. His father, Michael Griffin, was formerly sheriff of Wood Co. and is the proprietor of the Thomas House.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Bruley. She was brought up here, graduated from our high school and had taught successfully. The fact that she had grown up here, and her family relationship having long been identified with Neillsville and vicinity, give wide and friendly interest in her welfare and there are expressed on every hand the most sincere hopes for her happiness.
