Garrison, Llewellyn O. (? - 11 Jan 1913)
Llewellyn O. Garrison, one of the leading citizens of Thorp and Clark County, died suddenly at his home early Sunday morning.
He was apparently in excellent health the night previous and went to bed as usual. As he did not arise in the morning, Mrs. Garrison went to call him and found him dead. His death was evidently due to heart failure.
Mr. Garrison was the pioneer business man of Thorp, starting a store there before the railroad was built into the town. His business in which his brother Frank Garrison of Grand Rapids was associated with him, prospered, and later they established a bank, which has also grown and flourished. Mr. Garrison was not only a business man of keen perception, but he was a citizen of broad and patriotic views. He possessed a genial and kindly humor, a rare intelligence and a wholesome philosophy that made him a most companionable man to his friends. His sudden death has brought sadness, not only to his many friends in and around Thorp, but to a host of acquaintances all over the state.
Mr. Garrison was born at Grand Rapids, grew to manhood there, and continued all his life to maintain a lively interest in his old home. The funeral was held at Thorp and the remains taken to Grand Rapids for burial in the family lot in the cemetery there.
There are left to mourn his death his wife and one son, M.D. Garrison, who resides in Thorp.
