McNelly, Sterling H. (26 Apr 1907 - 16 Jan 1913)

Sterling Hart McNelly died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel McNelly of this city (Neillsville, Clark County), Thursday Jan. 16, 1913, after a brief illness, aged 15 years, 8 months and 20 days. Sterling was born in Richland County, April 26, 1907?. He came here with his parents the latter part of November. He was a quiet home-loving boy and having attended school here only one week before he was taken sick, he had not made many acquaintances. His good appearance and gentlemanly manner had, however, made him noticeable and won pleasant comment from those who met him.

Mr. McNelly recently bought the Thomas Lowe farm in the city limits and the family arrived here among strangers Thanksgiving Day. The death of the boy, whose helpfulness meant so much and whose future looked so bright, comes as a sad blow to the family circle. Besides the father and mother there are left three brothers and six sisters to mourn his early death. The devotion to one another of the father, mother and children, and the fact that they are still almost strangers to the people around them, make them particularly entitled to the sympathy of the people here.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Prescott officiating.
