The following obituary is taken from Saturday’s Madison Democrat:
"Mrs. Adeline Sears died at the home of her daughter Mrs. H. W. Pickford, 201 South Mills St., Friday morning, Jun 13, 1913, at six o’clock after a severe illness covering a period of nearly ten months. Following a period of poor health, the result of attack of grip, came a stroke of paralysis, Sept. 24 last year, the entire left side of the body being affected. Since that time she had been almost entirely helpless. Mrs. Sears was born in Benton, Maine, Nov. 29, 1827, being 85 years of age on her last birthday. She was married in 1846 to Thos. Sears and with her husband came to Wisconsin in 1849, settling on a farm in Green County, near Monticello. Her husband died Jun 10, 1893, 20 years ago. For the past 12 years Mrs. Sears has lived in Madison with her daughters. Four children are living, two sons, Wilmer of Only, Mo.; Fred of Neillsville, Clark Co., two daughters, Mrs. Sarah M. Berkey and Mrs. H. W. Pickford of Madison.
The funeral was held at 2 o’clock this afternoon at the residence, 201 South Mills St., Rev. F. A. Gilmore officiating. Music was furnished by the Unitarian Church quartet. Burial was at Monticello, the funeral party leaving over Illinois Central at 4 o’clock. The bearers were R. S. Owen, Fred Sears, H. W. Pickford and Roswell Pickford. Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sears and daughter, Lois, Neillsville; Mrs. J.D. Steven, Eau Claire; Mrs. William Bonn, Golconda, Ill.; and Mrs. George Graham, Seattle, Wash.
