Pool, Martha J. (14 Jan 1848 - 6 Dec 1913)

Martha J. Pool died Dec. 6, 1913 at the home of H.H. Hunter in the town of Washburn, Clark County after an illness of but a few days, resulting from a stroke of apoplexy. She was born Martha J. Poff on Jan. 14, 1848 and was united in marriage to Thomas Pool on Jan. 4, 1869. She was the mother of seven children, five of who survive their parents. The children are Mrs. H.H. Hunter, Mrs. Walter Troxel and William Pool of Alma Center, Chas. Pool of this city and Ernest Pool. Three sisters and two brothers also survive her. Mabel Hughes of Fairbury, Neb.; Eva Kurts of Long Beach, Cal.; Nellie Lowe of Lometa, Texas and Silas and Henderson Poff of Lama, Mo.

She Was a member of the Christian Church all her life and was a devout woman and one who was held in the very highest esteem by all. She was possessed of a kindly and charitable nature and lived a life which was a pleasure to others as well as a comfort to herself. Deceased was buried Dec. 8, services conducted by Rev. Mallory at the Cannonville Church and interment took place in the Levis cemetery.
