Montgomery, Bertha (1 Dec 1874 - 16 Jan 1914)

Mrs. Bertha Montgomery, wife of Wm. B. Montgomery, died at their home in this city early Friday morning, Jan. 16, 1914, after a long illness from tuberculosis. Mrs. Montgomery was born in the town of Grant, Clark County, Dec. 1, 1874, being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schoengarth. She was married to Mr. Montgomery Jan. 20, 1892, and they have lived in Neillsville practically all the time since. She was a woman of quiet home loving nature, loved by all who knew her. She bore her own long illness with great patience and gentleness. A few years ago her daughter Anna died. Her sickness and death were a severe blow to the mohter and the care, nursing and grief no doubt helped to undermine the mother’s strength.

She leaves beside her husband, one son Will, a young man, and her father.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Nogle preaching the funeral sermon.
