Sterling, Joseph (? - 13 Mar 1914)
Jos. Sterling, for many years a leading lumberman of the north end of Clark County, died March 13, 1914 at his home near Blair. He rose from an ex-teamster to be head-woodsman for the Eau Claire Lumber Co. The village of Sterling east of Thorp was at one time the site of a large mill which he managed. Later He lived on his farm at Thorp, which he sold a few years ago and moved to a small farm near Blair. He is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter, widow of the late Dr. McKittrick.
