Barton, William (1846 - 10 Apr 1914)

William Barton died at an Eau Claire Hospital Friday, April 10, 1914, aged 67 years. Mr. Barton was born at St. Andrews, Canada, and grew to manhood there. He was married there to Miss Elizabeth Smith, who died two years later. About 35 years ago he came here and settled on a farm in Weston, Clark County, later he moved to Neillsville, where he lived for a time and then moved to his farm in Grant, Clark County. After living for some time on this farm he moved back again to the city. Just before going to Eau Claire for a surgical operation he bought a house on the North Side. About 35 years ago he was married to Miss Annie Owen, who survives him. He leaves five children: Mrs. Stone of Lake Mills; a son Julius of Oconomowoc; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Begley of Weston; a son, Francis and daughter Patricia at home.

Mr. barton was an industrious upright man, fair and honorable in every way, a good man and a good citizen. The funeral was held Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Dorrenbach officiating.
