Burnett, Frank J. (21 Jun 1872 - 12 Apr 1913)
Frank J. Burnett died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County) Saturday morning April 12, 1913, after a lingering illness. He was born in Portage Jun 21, 1872, being the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Burnett. He came to Neillsville with his parents in 1880, and has lived here every since. He was a faithful industrious worker in every place and was considered a trusty man by all his employers. He early took a great interest in military affairs and for nearly twenty-four years was a faithful member of Co. A., serving the company in almost every capacity, from private up. He served with honor in the Spanish War and ever since, even after failing health prevented his promotion to captain he continued to give the best service he could. He was married Dec. 20, 1899 to Miss Jessa Scoville, who with their two children, Florence and Virginia, are left to mourn his death.
He leaves four sisters: Mrs. F.E. Darling of Montesano, Wash., Mrs. H.F. Kern and Miss Helen Burnett of Duluth, and Mrs. J.M. Davis of Black River Falls; and one brother, C.M. Burnett of Eleva. His death is sincerely mourned by sores of old friends, neighbors and comrades.
The funeral was held Monday at the Armory under the auspices of Co. A., Rev. F.M. Prucia preaching the funeral sermon.
