HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 02/12/1921 Gaylord, Hester A.
(9 NOV 1831 - 28 Jan 1921) Hester Ann Marcy
was born Nov. 9, 1831, in Syracuse Co., N.Y., and died at her home
at Bruce Mound, Clark County, Wis., Jan. 28, 1921, aged 89 years, 2
months and 19 days. She was married to
George W. Gaylord on Jan. 17, 1848, at Willow Springs, Lafayette
Co., Wis. They first settled in Illinois and then at Mineral Point,
Wis. The family moved from Mineral Point fifty-one years ago to
near Rockland, where they lived eighteen years. From there she
moved with her son, A. A. Gaylord, to his farm at Bruce Mound,
where the remaining years of her life were passed. In her
seventy-three years of married life she was faithful in her trust,
bringing up her family of ten children to womanhood and manhood. A
home-lover, where she performed the loving duties for all through
the years freighted with sadness, sickness and joy, mingled as all
human loves are. In the early days left with little ones to weather
hardships while the husband and father went to the war, and son on
down through the years we have found her always willing to take the
burden from those she loved if they would let her. As she is laid
away we thought how the poor hands had labored for all, but they
are now at rest, and May her Father above fold her in his loving
arms and keep her safe from all storms. The remains were
taken to Rockland, Wis., where they were laid to rest beside her
son Marion, who passed on before, thirty-three years ago. Friends
gathered to show their last respects to her. Flowers by them,
pillow by sons and daughters, and bouquet by grandchildren rested
lovingly over her, and we thought how she loved flowers when
living. She has seen children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
and great-great-grandchildren grow up around her, and in all their
hearts there is nothing but love and reverence for the old
grandmother who has gone before. ********** Responses Re: Obit: Gaylord,
