HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 05/28/1921 Monroe, Alberta
(26 Dec 1856 - 22 May 1921) The remains of
Mrs. Josh. Monroe, whose death occurred at her home in Augusta
Sunday evening, were brought here (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.)
Tuesday on the noon train for burial. The funeral services were
held in the Free Methodist Church and were attended by many
relatives and friends. Rev. J. W. Kendall preached the sermon and
interment was made in the family lot in the Mentor Cemetery. Mrs.
Monroe had been a sufferer for a number of years with rheumatism
and complications, and much of the time during the latter months
had been an invalid. Alberta Gillett
was born in Bayham, Canada, Dec. 26, 1856. At the age of nine years
she moved with her parents to Thompson Valley, near Augusta. She
was united in marriage Oct. 21, 1875, to Mr. Joshua M. Monroe, and
they made their home in and near Augusta and Humbird until the time
of her death. To this union five children were born, Arena May,
Mary Pearleyett, Elmer Mertin, John Wesley, Ward Lester. Of these,
three have preceded their mother to the better land. She leaves her
husband, two sons, Mertin and Ward of Augusta; two brothers,
Gilferd Gillett of Weyerhauser, and Wilber Gillett of Waynesville,
Mo., and four grandchildren to mourn her death. Mrs. Monroe in her
girlhood days gave attention to the work of the church. In her
early married life she was converted and joined the church, of
which she has been a faithful member unto the day of her death. She
was not only a strong believer in a spiritual religion, but lived a
life of supreme devotion to God. She was a faithful
wife, a loving and affectionate mother. She passed away peacefully
on Sunday evening, May 22, aged 64 years, 4 months and 26 days. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
