HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 01/06/1923 Watenphul, Philip
(28 May 1850 - 29 Dec 1922) An old and
respected settler of the town of Cleveland, Jackson Co., Wis.,
Philip Watenphul, passed away last Friday at the home of his
son-in-law, Rudolph Thur. Deceased had been an invalid for nearly a
year and a half, at all times uncomplaining, and death came as a
welcome relief to a life of pain, at the age of 72 years, 7 months
and 1 day. Philip Watenphul
was born on May 28, 1850, near Milwaukee, where he grew to manhood.
In the year 1870 he accompanied his parents and family to the town
of Cleveland, where they opened up a farm in what was then an
undeveloped region. Ten year later, in 1880, he was united in
marriage with Miss Wilheima Braemer, who was his helpmate until
April 10, 1894, when she passed to the Great Beyond. Mr. Watenphul
was the father of nine children, six of whom survive him, and who,
together with a brother, an uncle and a number of nieces and
nephews, mourn his death. The funeral was
held last Sunday afternoon, in charge of M. Kretschmer, at his late
home, and at the Lutheran Church in Fairchild, Rev. F. J. Geske
preaching the sermon. Burial was in the Beef River Cemetery. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
