(8 Mar 1854 - 10 May 1923) Bertha W. Murray
was born in Pennsylvania on March 8, 1854. She came with her
parents, Nancy and Miles Murray, to Neillsville at the age of seven
years. She was united in marriage to Levi Lowman on April 7, 1868.
They lived near Alma Center, in the town of Cleveland, Jackson Co.,
Wis., until the death of Mr. Lowman, which occurred Feb. 11,
1923. Mrs. Lowman passed
away after a long illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H.
White, in Garden Valley, on May 10, 1923. She leaves to
mourn her death, seven children, namely: Mrs. Fannie Peterson, town
of Cleveland; Wesley of Billings, Montana; Mrs. Jennie Dunn and
Mrs. H. White of Garden Valley; George of Tunnel City; John of
Merrillan; and Grover at home. Mrs. Lowman was a
kind and loving mother, and a splendid neighbor, always ready and
willing to help others in sickness. She will be sadly missed by
relatives and friends in the community where she lived. The funeral
was held at the home Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Slack
of Merrillan, officiating. Burial was in Garden Valley
