Schamper, Michael (17 Mar 1850 - 29 May 1923)
Michael Schamper was born in Germany March 17, 1850, and was called to the Great Beyond May 29, 1923, at the age of 73 years, 2 months and 12 days, after lingering illness of dropsy and pneumonia. He came to America in 1880, settling near this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), where he lived until 1923, when he moved to Milwaukee, which has since been his home, and where his death occurred. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Susan Werel Lauer. To this union was born one daughter.
He leaves to mourn, his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Bohl, one step-daughter, Mrs. Katharine Miller, one step-son, John Lauer, all of Milwaukee, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral was held from the residence in Milwaukee to Holy Ghost Church, on June 1st. Interment was made in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Those attending the funeral from our of the city were John Theis and Mrs. Theresa Benish of Humbird; John T. Harris, Mrs. Emil Garber, Mr. and Mrs. R. Buchholz of Altoona; Mrs. Elizabeth Preutz and Mrs. Adolph Kark of Racine; Mrs. Elizabeth Thoma and Miss Esther Thoma of West Bend.
