HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 12/27/1924 Eisenhart, John J.
(17 Dec 1837 - 24 Dec 1924) John Jacob
Eisenhart was born in Germany Dec. 17, 1837. There he grew to
manhood, and in 1865, he was married to Miss Louisa Rextor, to
which union was born eight children. Three of the children died in
childhood, and a daughter, Mrs. Anna Schoemacker passed away a year
ago. Joining the tide
of western emigration, this family severed the ties which bound
them to their home in the Old World and came to America, arriving
in Humbird, Clark County, Wis. on May 4, 1884. They remained in
that village until fall, and then moved to the farm a mile east of
town, which was their home until twenty-one years ago, then
returning to the village, where they lived until his wife died in
1921. He has since made his home with his son Jacob in Garden
Valley, where he passed peacefully away on Dec. 24, 1924, attaining
the advanced age of 87 years and 4 days. Mr. Eisenhart is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Laffe of this village, three
sons, Christ of North Bend, Jacob of Garden Valley, and Henry of
Plymouth; eighteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren,
who are mourning the death of a beloved parent and grandparent. He
had a host of friends among the older people of this community,
whose sympathies are with those who sorrow during this season of
general rejoicing. Tuesday afternoon
funeral services were held at the Reformed Church, Rev. D. Grether
officiating, and burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery. Relatives from
away attending the funeral sere his sons Christ and Henry from
North Bend and Plymouth, and John Schoemacker of Spring Grove,
